2005-06 Season: Captured 125 pound NCAA Division II championship… dominated National Tournament by outscoring opponents 25-6 in three matches and winning the other by fall in 1:38…defeated Shippenberg’s Jamie Thomas 5-1 in the finals…recorded 39-4 record (7-1 in duals)…led the team with 19 pins…won Nichols, UNK, Dana, Brand and North Region Tournaments…placed fourth at Kaufman Open and was second at Northern Iowa Open…North Central Conference wrestler of the week three times…team’s outstanding freshman award winner…platinum award winner (39 wins)…North Central Conference freshman of the year…10 times UNO wrestler of the week …Nine times UNO OOOSSS award winner during season and also team’s OOOSSS award recipient.
2004-05 Season: Wrestled unattached and went 10-2…placed third at Nichols Open and was sixth at Kaufman Open (20-&-Under)…advanced to semifinals at Kaufman but injury forced him to default out and finish sixth…named one of UNO’s Newcomers of the Year…UNO Wrestler of the Week for Nichols and Kaufman Opens.
High School: Four time place winner in Kansas 6A State Tournament…won state championship as a freshman, junior, and senior…placed third as a sophomore…went 75-1 his last two seasons going 38-0 his senior season…recorded a 132-9 record during his high school career…his father and Coach Mike Garcia was an All-American at Central Missouri State...two-time Cadet All-American in freestyle.
