AMES, Iowa -- The Omaha volleyball team capped its weekend at the Cyclone Invitational on Saturday, falling 3-0 (9-25, 21-25, 23-25) to Iowa State and 3-0 (18-25, 23-25, 21-25) to Kent State at Hilton Coliseum.

Leaders for Omaha
Senior
Sydney O'Shaughnessy recorded a double-double on 23 assists and 12 digs with a team-best three blocks in the opening match. Junior
Mackenzie Horkey had a team-high eight kills with eight digs, and freshman
Claire Mountjoy added a double-figure dig effort on 15 scoops with five assists.
Freshman
Anna Blaschko led the way at the net, matching O'Shaughnessy with another trio of blocks.
Leaders for Iowa State
Iowa State got 11 kills apiece from Alexis Conaway and Genesis Miranda, with Conway hitting .409 for the afternoon and putting up a match-best five blocks. Monique Harris finished with a match-high 33 assists and eight digs.
Team Stats
Iowa State hit .290 to Omaha's .092 and outblocked the Mavericks 7.0-5.0.
Inside Set 1
ISU opened the match with five straight kills, but a block by O'Shaughnessy and senior
Amanda Conlin stopped the run. The Mavericks later cut the Cyclone lead to five on a Horkey kill, but ISU responded with another 5-0 spurt to lead 17-7. The Cyclones ultimately claimed the first set 25-9 after closing on a 13-2 run, and supported by a .355 team attacking clip.
Inside Set 2
ISU again took an early lead, but a kill by junior
Abby Bergsten was the equalizer at 9-9. The Cyclones then went up by three, but Omaha capitalized on four straight errors for its first lead of the set at 13-12. A Horkey kill and an ISU ball handling error then pushed Omaha's lead to 15-13 by the media timeout.
The 11th tie of the neck-and-neck set brought the score to 21-all and pushed it in the Cyclones' favor, as a 5-0 run closed the game at 25-21.
Inside Set 3
Omaha broke past an early 5-5 lock with kills from Horkey and Bergsten coupled with an ISU attack error. The Mavericks then built their largest lead at 10-6 after back-to-back kills from O'Shaughnessy and Bergsten, forcing an Iowa State timeout.
The Cyclones rallied to tie the set at 15-15, but Omaha responded with a Bergsten kill, an O'Shaughnessy/Blaschko block and an ace from freshman
Bella Sade to go up by three. After Omaha took a 20-16 edge, ISU pulled within one at 20-19, which prompted a Maverick timeout. The Cyclones tied the set a final time at 22-22 and seized it at 25-23 on a Miranda kill to sweep the match.
MATCH 2 -- KENT STATE 3, OMAHA 0
Leaders for Omaha
Horkey finished with a team-leading 11 kills, eight digs and a block in the second match of the afternoon. O'Shaughnessy recorded her third double-double of the weekend, posting 26 assists, 12 digs, two blocks and two aces.
Mountjoy added a team-high 17 digs, and Blaschko paced the Mavericks on the block again with five stops. Bergsten and Sade tallied six more kills and four more blocks apiece, as well as another eight digs for Bergsten.
Leaders for Kent State
Kelsey Bittinger hit .429 en route to a match-high 18 kills, adding 10 digs for a double-double. Natalie Tagala also had a double-double performance with 35 assists and 10 digs. Heather Younkin finished with 11 kills, and Challen Geraghty notched a match-leading 30 digs for the day.
Team Stats
Kent State outhit Omaha .210 to .110, but Omaha put together its strongest blocking performance yet with a 9.0-3.0 advantage.
Inside Set 1
Kent State created a 7-2 edge early in the first set, pushing Omaha to call a timeout. A 7-0 run later extended it to 18-7, and behind six kills and .545 hitting by Bittinger, KSU took the game, 25-18.
Inside Set 2
KSU opened to a 6-2 lead, but Omaha quickly built a 5-0 run with the help of three blocks to go ahead 7-6. After the set stalled with four ties, the Mavericks regained a 14-13 foothold on a Horkey kill, but KSU made a 7-0 push to go up 20-14. Another kill by Horkey halted it, and an O'Shaughnessy ace trimmed Omaha's deficit to 20-16.
Down six at 23-17, the Mavericks went into a late surge, as kills by Sade and Blaschko, a Sade ace and a Blaschko/Bergsten block made it 23-21. Kent State, however, edged Omaha 25-23 to take a 2-0 match lead.
Inside Set 3
After trailing early, Omaha worked to take its first lead of the set at 13-12 on consecutive kills from Horkey and Sade. KSU then took the lead again at 15-14 with a pair of kills from Ashley Makruski. The Golden Flashes brought it to match point at 24-19, but a Sade/Horkey stop and a KSU attack error helped Omaha cut it to 24-21. Kent State sealed it coming out of the final timeout, as an attacking miscue put it away at 25-21.
