OMAHA, Neb. - Every UNO wrestler that took part in Session I advanced to the quarterfinals today in the 2010 Divison II Wrestling Championship at the Sapp Fieldhouse. All 10 will wrestle tonight when Session II gets under way at 6 p.m. at Sapp Fieldhouse.
UNO leads in points with 20 followed by St. Cloud State who has 12.
In early action, Terrell McKinney won his match 5-2 over Russell Weakley. He will take on Upper Iowa's Tyler Mumbulo (22-5).
Cody Garcia picked up his 30th win by fall of the season to move to 46-0 on the year. He beat Joseph Morrison of Nebraska-Kearney. Garcia is set to face Kyle Pedretti (25-7) of Upper Iowa next round.
Mario Morgan's (141) win was his 27th straight of the season. He defeated Brandon Schunk (15-9) of Southwest Minnesota State 10-9 with riding time. Morgan will square off against Adam Hluschak (21-13) of East Stroudsburg in the quarterfinals.
Redshirt freshman George Ivanov (157) won by decision over Stephen Towne, 9-4. Ivanov will battle Augustana's Marcus Edgington next round. The two met on Feb. 17 with Ivanov collecting the 10-5 win by decision.
Ryan Pankoke (165) won his match 6-1 over Minnesota State, Mankato's Tel Todd. Pankoke will face Blake Malloy (33-8) next round. At 174, Aaron Denson picked up a major decision over Anthony Petrella, 8-0. Denson will take on top-ranked Marty Usman (41-1) of Nebraska-Kearney in the quarters.
Austin Boehm (184) won by fall in 30 seconds against Zachariah Jimenez of San Francisco State. Boehm will take on Kutztown's Tim Darling in the next round. At 197, Jacob Marrs beat Dusty Vliem 11-2 to move on to the quarters where he will face Shane Nolan.
Elijah Madison (285) won his match to move to 32-7 on the season after he pinned J.D. Ramsey of WLU at 4:30.
