OMAHA, Neb. -- Omaha head men's basketball coach Derrin Hansen will participate in the 10th annual Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic in the coming week.
The 2017 Classic will be held at Shadow Creek and Southern Highlands golf courses, May 21-23, in Las Vegas. The event has netted over $3.6 million for the American Cancer Society over the last decade, and this year's tournament is expected to net more than $1 million.
"It's an honor to be part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic," Hansen said. "All families have been affected by cancer in some way. This is an incredible opportunity to build awareness for the Coaches vs. Cancer program, advocate in the fight against this terrible disease and ultimately help the American Cancer Society save lives."
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The initiative empowers coaches, their teams and communities to join the fight against cancer by participating in awareness efforts, advocacy programs and fundraising activities.
