Grigorescu Named Summit League Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Omaha freshman Razvan Grigorescu was named the Summit League Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for his performance Jan. 31 to Feb. 6, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Grigorescu collected his second Player of the Week award, which was his second honor in three weeks.  Last weekend, he defeated Iowa’s Josh Silverstein, 6-4, 6-7 (10-12), 1-0 (11-9) at No. 1 singles.  Held a 4-3 lead with Colin Buckley at No. 1 doubles before the match was halted when the Hawkeyes clinched the doubles point.

Grigorescu improved to 4-0, including two wins over No. 1 singles players from a Power 5 school.

Omaha returns to action this weekend, visiting crosstown foe Creighton on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.  The Mavericks take on Drake in Des Moines, Iowa, on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 4 p.m.
