ELK GROVE, Calif. – The Omaha men’s golf team took ninth at the Sacramento State Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
The Mavericks closed the 54-hole tournament with a team round of 307 for a total score of 920 at the Valley Hi Country Club. Grand Canyon won the event with a score of 862. Cal State Fullerton took second at 874, and UC Santa Barbara was third at 879.
Kevin Gordon led the Mavericks in scoring for the second tournament this spring with a three-round total of 226 that included a final round of 78. He finished in a tie for 19th overall.
Mitch Ryan was second on the team and tied for 28th overall with a score of 229, his second-best total for the year. He carded a score of 76 in the third round.
Ben Maskus and Sam Musch tied for third for UNO and tied for 53rd overall with total scores of 239. Musch had a team-low score of 74 in the final round while Maskus shot 79.
Kelly Brown completed the scoring for UNO with a total of 241 that included a final round card of 87. He finished in a tie for 60th.
The Mavericks have 10 days off before returning to action at the GCU Invitational hosted by Grand Canyon on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18.
