ELK GROVE, Calif. – The Omaha men’s golf team sits in eighth place after the first two rounds of the Sacramento State Intercollegiate on Monday.
The Mavericks carded team rounds of 306 and 307 to sit at 613 for the 54-hole tournament at the Valley Hi Country Club. Grand Canyon leads with a score of 574, 10 strokes ahead of UC Santa Barbara in second. Cal State Fullerton is third at 588.
Kevin Gordon led the Mavericks over the first 36 holes with scores of 75 and 73 for a total of 148 that has him in a tie for ninth in the field of 69 golfers.
Mitch Ryan is second on the team and sits in a tie for 22nd with a total of 153 that included rounds of 77 and 76. He’s one stroke ahead of teammate Kelly Brown who carded scores of 74 and 80 for a total of 154. That score has him in a tie for 30th.
Ben Maskus is fourth for the Mavericks and in a tie for 51st. He shot rounds of 82 and 78 for a score of 160. Sam Musch finished the scoring for UNO with a score of 165 to put him in a tie for 65th. He shot 80 and 85 on day one.
The Mavericks begin teeing off in the final round on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. CT.
