Mavericks Open 13th at Houston Baptist

SPRING, Texas – The Omaha men’s golf team began its spring season in 13th place after the first day of play at The Colin Montgomerie hosted by Houston Baptist.

The Mavericks shot team scores of 304 and 317 for a total of 621 over the first 36 holes of the 54-hole event.  Louisiana Monroe leads after day one with a score of 578.  Stephen F. Austin is second at 582 and Bradley is third at 583.

Kevin Gordon led the Mavericks on day one with scores of 73 and 78 for a total of 151 that has him in a six-way tie for 49th.  Ben Maskus is one stroke back after shooting 74 and 78 for a score of 152, putting him in a tie for 55th.

Mitch Ryan shot matching rounds of 78 for 156 to put him in a tie for 71st while Kelly Brown is 81st with a 36-hole score of 162.  She carded scores of 79 and 83.

Sam Musch concluded the scoring for Omaha with back-to-back rounds of 86 to put him at 172.

The final round begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the Cypresswood Traditions Course.
