Ahrens Picks Up Summit All-Academic Nod

Omaha Athletics | June 01, 2017
ELMHURST, Ill. – Junior Stephanie Ahrens of the Omaha track & field team has been named to the Summit League's Academic All-League Team, one of 10 student-athletes to earn the honor.

Ahrens was the Summit League's outdoor high jump champion for the second straight season, jumping 5-10 ½ at the championship in May to earn all-league honors.  That height was the best in the Summit League this season.

The native of Lincoln, Neb. qualified for the NCAA West Preliminaries for the second straight season.  She overcame illness to finish in the top half in the high jump with a mark of 5-08 ½ last week in Austin, Texas, but her height did not qualify her for the NCAA Championship meet.

This marks the first time Ahrens has been named to the Summit's academic all-league team.  She currently has a 3.56 grade point average in architectural engineering.
