FARGO, N.D. – The Omaha track & field team took sixth place at the Summit League Outdoor Championships on Saturday afternoon.
The Mavericks finished with 32 points, just one behind fifth-place Oral Roberts. North Dakota State repeated as Summit champions with 335 points, outdistancing South Dakota which was second at 241. South Dakota State took third with 107.5.
Senior Alyssa Thavenet closed out her collegiate career by taking fifth place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.08.
Junior Stephanie Ahrens finished fifth in the 100 meter hurdles, running a time of 14.43. Ahrens was UNO's lone representative on the All-Summit team by winning the high jump on Friday.
In the 400 meters, freshman Sydnee Mitchell-Jemison earned fifth place in a personal best time of 56.45. Daylee Olson finished just out of scoring position in 10th place but ran the second-best time of her career at 59.74.
In the triple jump, freshman Nyakuome Thichiot finished seventh with a mark of 37-11 ¼, the second-farthest jump of her young career.
In the relays, the team of Olson, Mitchell-Jemison, Taleah Williams and Brekk Flax ran a season-best time of 49.60 in the 4 x 100 meters to take seventh.
