EMPORIA, Kan. – The Omaha track & field team returned to action after a week off at the Emporia State Relays on Saturday.
Stephanie Ahrens won the high jump with a mark of 5-08 ½ that is tops among all Summit League athletes.
In the other field events, Taleah Williams had a season best in the long jump with a mark of 17-04, putting her 11th in the field of 48 jumpers.
Lauren Doeschot posted a personal best in the hammer throw with a distance of 134-07, good for 14th place.
On the track, Kayla Sabotin tied her personal best in the 1,500 meters, running a time of 4:50.44 that was good for sixth place. Anita Jenkins also ran a personal best, coming in ninth in a time of 4:55.68.
Renata Valquier-Chavez, running the 5,000 meters outdoors for the first time, finished sixth with a time of 18:14.37. The time puts her 10th all-time in UNO history.
In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Annie Catania broke her previous personal best by 23 seconds, coming in at 11:55.73. She finished eighth overall.
In the 400 meters, Lauren Houston finished seventh in a time of 57.68, just off her personal best. Alyssa Thavenet also was just shy of her personal best with a time of 58.74, good for 13th.
The Mavericks have next week off before returning to action at two meets in California. They’ll compete in the Cal State Los Angeles Twilight Open on Thursday, April 13 and the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday, April 14.
