Mavericks Sixth In Preseason Outdoor Track Poll

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Omaha track & field team has been picked to finish sixth in the Summit League's outdoor championship.  Results of the annual preseason coaches' poll were released today.

The Mavericks received 19 points in the voting putting them just behind Western Illinois (24) and just ahead of Fort Wayne (12).

North Dakota State was picked to win its 10th straight outdoor title.  The Bison earned 49 points and seven first-place votes.  South Dakota got the other first-place vote and was second with 43 points.  South Dakota State was third with 37 points.  Complete results of the poll are below.

The Mavericks finished fifth in the 2016 Summit League Outdoor Championships and recently took sixth in the indoor championship. 

Omaha begins the outdoor season at the Tulsa Duels on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18.
