Omaha Adds Three Trasnfers to 2017 Class

Omaha Athletics | April 12, 2017

OMAHA, Neb. – Head coach Tim Walters announced the addition of three transfers to the class of 2017.  Erinoelle Clifton, Haley Johnson and Jaden Thiem will join the six other student-athletes who signed on National Signing Day.

Erinoelle Clifton - Defender | Bellevue, Neb. | Northern Iowa | EGA

Clifton comes to Omaha after playing her first two seasons at Northern Iowa.  A 5-3 defender, she appeared in 30 games and started 10 for the Panthers.  Clifton is a Bellevue, Neb. native and attended Bellevue West High School.  She played club soccer for Elite Girls Academy under head coach Marcus Kelcher.  Erinoelle will come in with two years of eligibility remaining.

Coach Walters on Erinoelle Clifton: “Erin is a tremendous athlete who is extremely versatile. She can play in the back, out wide or up front. Her work rate in training will fit in quickly with the culture of our team.   I am thrilled she is coming back to Omaha to play in front of her friends and family. She will immediately add pace and experience to our lineup."

Haley Johnson-Goalkeeper | Bountiful, Utah | South Florida | Iowa Western CC | Forza FC

Johnson hails from Bountiful, Utah, where she played for Forza FC.  A transfer from the University of South Florida and Iowa Western Community College, Johnson was a two-time NJCAA All-American.  Johnson also was a national runner-up at Iowa Western.  In two years with the Reivers, she posted a 29-4-2 record with 12 shutouts and a 0.56 goals-against average.  Last season with South Florida, Johnson appeared in four games making five saves, including stopping two penalty kicks in the American Athletic Conference quarterfinals.  She will come in with one year of eligibility remaining.

Coach Walters on Haley Johnson: “Our priorities on day one were to improve the depth of our goalkeeper position and become more athletic for this upcoming season.  With the addition of Haley, we have accomplished both of those things.  She has fantastic experience and athletic upside.  I’m looking forward to great competition between our goalkeepers this fall.”

Jaden Thiem-Defender | Elkhorn, Neb. | Northern Kentucky | Omaha FC

Thiem, a local product from Elkhorn, Neb., will have four years of eligibility at Omaha after playing volleyball her freshman year at Northern Kentucky in 2016.  She was an all-state honoree in both soccer and volleyball during her prep career.  Thiem helped Elkhorn South to the 2015 Nebraska Class B State Championship, and won four state titles with Omaha FC under head coach Alex Mason.

Coach Walters of Jaden Thiem: “Jaden was a fantastic two-sport athlete at Elkhorn South, who has tremendous athletic ability and reads the game well.  Mallory Edwards and Jaden provided an excellent center back combination for Alex Mason at Omaha FC for many years.  She’s been training with an NCAA tournament team this spring at NKU, and I’m looking forward to having her be a Maverick for the next four years."

The duo joins a six-member recruiting class that features Bailey Cascio, Andres Daves, Sarah Doran, Emily Fontana, Sydney Randall and Lauren Witte.
