GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Omaha women’s golf team moved up two spots into fifth place after the second day of play at the Bama Beach Bash on Saturday.
The Mavericks fired a team round of 306, tying their best round of the Division I era, and now sit at 623. They’re just four strokes out of third. West Florida leads with a 36-hole score of 597. West Georgia is second at 611, and co-host Alabama Birmingham is third at 619.
Megan Vetrovsky shot a career best round of 72 at the Gulf Shores Golf Club and has a two-day score of 146. That puts her fifth in the field of 49 golfers.
Freshman Sami Langford shot a career best score of 75, putting her at 157 through two rounds. She’s second on the team and sits in a tie for 23rd.
Jordan York is third on the team and is in a tie for 32nd with a total of 161 that included a round of 81 on Saturday. She’s one stroke ahead of teammate Mandy Boyle who shot 78 in round two to put her at 162, good for a tie for 34th.
Samantha Chong concluded the scoring for the Mavericks with a round of 82 that has her at 163 for the tournament, putting her 37th.
The final round of the event begins Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
