KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Omaha women’s golf team finished 35th at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic on Tuesday, their first tournament of the spring season.
The Mavericks shot a team round of 314 to finish at 949 in the 54-hole tournament. Coastal Carolina paced the huge field of 43 teams with a team score of 870, one stroke ahead of host College of Charleston. Southern Mississippi was third at 873.
Megan Vetrovsky shot her second straight round of 73 on the final day to finish at 227, her second-best 54-hole score of the season. She finished in a tie for 60th in the field of 232 golfers.
Samantha Chong shot 80 for the second consecutive day to post a three-round score of 239, putting her in a tie for 153rd.
Jordan York shot 80 on day three to finish third on the team and in a tie for 170th with a score of 242. That put her six strokes ahead of teammate Sami Langford who carded an 81 on Tuesday to finish at 248. She tied for 199th.
Mandy Boyle concluded the scoring for UNO with a round of 86 that put her at 250 for the tournament.
The Mavericks return to action on Saturday and Sunday, March 11-12 at the Grand Canyon Invitational.
