KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Omaha women’s golf team tied its low round of the year on the second day of play at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic on Monday.
The Mavericks shot a team score of 310 in the second round to sit at 635 for the event, good for a tie for 36th place in the massive field of 43 teams and 232 players. Coastal Carolina leads with a 36-hole team score of 584. East Tennessee State is second at 591, and host College of Charleston is tied for third with Charleston Southern at 592.
Megan Vetrovsky carded a career-low round of 73 over the par-72 course at the Osprey Point Golf Club and sits in a tie for 77th with a team-leading total score of 154.
Samantha Chong shot 80, one day after carding UNO’s best score of the first round, and has a total of 159, second on the team and in a tie for 129th overall.
Jordan York had UNO’s second-best round of the day, shooting 75 to tie her career best. She shaved 12 strokes off her first round score and is at 162 through 36 holes, good for a tie for 172nd.
Mandy Boyle carded her second straight round of 82 and sits at 164, putting her in a tie for 188th. Sami Langford finished the scoring with a round of 84 that has her at 167 for the tournament, good for a tie for 199th.
