Action Begins For Mavericks at Summit Championship

FARGO, N.D. – The Omaha track & field team began competition at the Summit League Outdoor Championships on Thursday.

Much of day one focused on the decathlon and heptathlon.  Several field events also took place.

In the hammer throw, Anna Edet was UNO's top finisher, taking 15th place with a mark of 149-06.  Maddy Partridge came in 19th with a throw of 123-11.

In the javelin, Lauren Doeschot finished 11th with a distance of 110 feet.

In the lone track event of the day, Alyssa Averhoff, running the 10,000 meters for the first time in her career, was 10th with a time of 39:44.93.

North Dakota State leads the meet with a score of 74, followed by South Dakota at 63.

The meet continues on Friday at 11 a.m. from the Schlanser Track at NDSU.
