Women’s Basketball Adds Transfer Romekia Wallace
OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha women’s basketball coach Brittany Lange announced today that sophomore forward Romekia Wallace will transfer to the Omaha women’s basketball program for the 2017-18 season.
Wallace, a 6-0 forward from St. Louis, Mo., played two seasons at Moberly Area Community College and averaged 11.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 steals during her two-year career. She played in the NJCAA All-Star Weekend and earned WBCA Junior/Community College Coaches’ All-America Honorable Mention honors in 2016. Wallace is a two-time NJCAA Division I All-Region honoree.
“We are thrilled to welcome Romekia to our program and have her impact immediately felt next year,” said Lange. “She is a terrific teammate and fit for our program on the court, academically and in the community.
“Romekia finished her junior college career as one of the top rebounders in the country and will add depth and athleticism to our forward position. She has the capability to be a double-double presence at our level. She is passionate about the defensive end and will add experience, toughness and unselfishness to our young squad.”
Wallace played for Cardinal Ritter in St. Louis, during her prep career. She averaged 10.9 points and 13.6 rebounds per game and led the Lions to the Missouri High School Class 3 finals as a senior.
