FARGO, N.D. -- The Omaha volleyball team completed its four-match road swing Saturday night, falling 3-0 (14-25, 14-25, 26-28) to North Dakota State at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
Freshman Hannah Angeli notched her seventh double-double of the season to lead the Mavericks, finishing with 23 assists, 13 digs and two blocks.
Freshman Chloe Dousette posted a team-high six kills, and redshirt freshman Meagen Roth added five more kills with nine digs and a pair of solo blocks. Junior Amanda Conlin matched Roth with five kills of her own and added two blocks. The effort helped Omaha outblock the Bison, 7.0-5.0.
Defensively, freshman Olivia Spanton had a team-leading 17 digs for the night.
North Dakota State was led by double-doubles from Hadley Steffen (10 kills/11 digs) and Brianna Rasmusson (31 assists/11 digs). Emily Minnick put up a match-high three blocks.
The Bison led the entire opening set, winning 25-14.
In game two, Omaha found itself trailing 16-11 and called for a timeout, then capitalized on two Bison errors and added a kill by sophomore Kayla Torson to pull within three at 17-14. NDSU, however, finished the set on an 8-0 run to claim the set, 25-14.
The third game, which saw 10 ties and three lead changes, proved a late battle between UNO and NDSU. Omaha went up 21-19 on a Spanton kill, but the Bison managed to lock it at 22-22. After ties at 23-23, 24-24 and 25-25, NDSU went ahead by one courtesy of a Minnick kill. The Mavericks then responded with a Dousette kill to stall the score a final time at 26-26, but the Bison edged by with an Alex Erickson kill and a Morgan Morgan service ace to finish it at 28-26.
The Mavericks are now 5-21 (2-10 Summit League) on the season, while the Bison move to 9-16 (7-4).
