OMAHA, Neb. - While the UNO tennis coaching staff has been plugging away all summer in search of finding talented players to join the Maverick programs, U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel perhaps served up the biggest ace for the programs on Friday at the Pentagon.

Hagel was meeting with Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera, an avid tennis player. After their meeting and a joint press conference, Hagel presented Onodera with a Maverick tennis t-shirt and warmup jacket.

Last October, Onodera gave Hagel, an avid swimmer, a pair of underwater headphones. On Friday, Hagel returned the favor. After touring the Strategic Command, Onodera visited the UNO campus, Hagel's alma mater. Hagel wanted to give him a piece of memorabilia to take back to Japan. Onodera received the apparel with a laugh and smile, as the press gallery laughed and applauded the gesture.
