DENVER, Colo.—The Omaha women’s tennis team suffered its second conference loss of the season on Friday night, falling to Fort Wayne, 6-1. With the loss, the Mavericks drop to 6-11 (2-2 Summit League), while the Mastodons improve to 15-8 (2-2 Summit League).
In doubles play, the Mavs lost all three matches. At No. 1, sophomore Tiffany Hottman and senior Alex Tran lost to Mayu Sato and Mary Huck, 8-2. No. 2 saw freshmen Hylan Miller and Kenzie Hill fall to Sonya Shustova and Emily Richardson, 8-4, while junior Jacqueline Baude and sophomore Molly Matricardi were defeated by Ella Norgren and Carlota Trevino, 8-2 at the No. 3 slot.
UNO continued to struggle during singles play. Picking up the lone win for the Mavs was Miller at No. 2, defeating Norgren, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. At No. 1 singles, Tran lost a close match to Sato, 6-4, 6-5.
Omaha returns to action tomorrow when it faces IUPUI in Denver, Colo. The match is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start time.
