OMAHA, Neb.—The Maverick women’s tennis team fell 5-2 to in-state opponent Creighton on Tuesday. With the loss, Omaha falls to 5-10 (1-1 Summit League), while the Bluejays improve to 10-7 (0-0 BIG EAST).
In doubles action, Creighton won two matches and the doubles point. The lone win for UNO came from freshman duo Hylan Miller and Kenzie Hill, who defeated Karlin Naslund and Sam Anderson, 8-7 (7-5), at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, UNO picked up two more wins. At No. 2, Miller picked up another win against Analese Snyder 6-1, 6-2. Senior Lindsay Weideman tallied the other win for the Mavericks over Amanda Noonan, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Also playing well for the Mavs was junior Jacqueline Baude, who lost a three set match to Naslund, 4-6, 6-1, 3-6.
The Mavericks return to action on Saturday, April 12, when they travel to Vermillion, S.D. to take on South Dakota. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
