PEORIA, Ill.—The Omaha women’s tennis team picked up its second win in three matches, defeating non-conference foe Bradley, 4-3, on Sunday. With the win, the Mavericks improve to 5-9 (1-1 Summit League), while the Braves fall to 4-12 (0-2 Missouri Valley).
UNO opened by winning the doubles point, picking up wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions. At No. 1, senior Alex Tran and junior Jacqueline Baude defeated Ariel Dechter and Sarah Rodefeld, 8-4. The clinching match for the doubles point was won by freshmen Kenzie Hill and Hylan Miller, who topped Liz Przystawski and Cassia Wojtalik, 8-6.
In singles action, Omaha picked up wins at the top three positions. Starting at No. 1, Tran posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Dechter. At No. 2, Miller defeated Ashely Thai, 6-4, 6-4, and sophomore Molly Matricardi picked up the clinching victory for UNO at No. 3, beating Rodefeld, 6-2, 7-5.
Omaha returns to action on Tuesday, April 8 for a 12:30 p.m. match against cross-town rival Creighton at Hanscom-Brandeis Tennis Center.
