Mavericks Fall to Fort Wayne, 5-2

Omaha, Neb. - The UNO men's tennis team fell to Summit League leading Fort Wayne, 5-2, Friday night at the Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center. The loss leaves the Mavericks with a 6-12 record, while Fort Wayne improves to 14-6.

Fort Wayne won both doubles matches, as the third match was stopped due to the Mastodons having secured the doubles point. Daniel Kang and Andres Cobos defeated Adam Dockery and Eric McKnight, 8-2 at No. 1 while Colin Buckley and James McManus fell to Connor Andrews and Karl Wangensten-Oye, 8-3 at No. 3. Tyler Mercier and Nathan Greteman were trailing Martin Muadi and Gerard Guell, 6-3, when the No. 2 doubles match was stopped.

Omaha secured its two points at the Nos. 2 and 5 singles matches, while the rest of the Mavs were unable to defeat the visiting Mastodons. Dockery defeated Cobos, 6-4, 1-6, 11-9 at No. 2 while McManus was able to outlast Muadi, 6-3, 5-7, 10-1 at No. 5 singles. 

The Mavericks continue a three match homestand next Wednesday against South Dakota State at the Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center. First serve will be at 2 p.m.
