OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha track & field team is in action for the first time in the new year, visiting Nebraska for the Holiday Inn Invitational.  The two-day meet is Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13-14, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The meet begins at 4 p.m. on Friday with the women’s long jump, concluding at 8:15 p.m. with the men’s 5,000 meters.  On Saturday, the meet resumes with the women’s pole vault at noon and finishes with the men’s 4x400 meter relay at 4:40 p.m.

This will be the second meet of the indoor season for the Mavericks who opened the campaign at Kansas State in December.  In that meet, junior Stephanie Ahrens posted the Summit League’s top mark in the high jump to date, jumping 5-08, to take first.

Freshman Sasha Quattlebaum put up the Summit League’s third-best time in the 60 meter hurdles, clocking a time of 9.14 to finish fourth.

Freshman Nyakuome Thichiot had the Summit’s seventh-best mark in the triple jump with a leap of 35-02 ¼.

Also at K-State, sophomore Anna Edet was fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 51-05 ¾ which stands as the sixth-best mark in the event in school history and ranks 11th in the Summit League.

Following the trip to Lincoln, the Mavericks head to Brookings, S.D. for the Jim Emmerich/Alumni Invitational at South Dakota State.
