GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Omaha women’s golf team finished in 11th place at the Bobcat Desert Invitational hosted by Montana State.
For the ninth time in 10 events, junior Megan Vetrovsky led the Mavericks in scoring with a 54-hole total of 225. She shot 75 in the final round to finish in a tie for 14th in the field of 77 golfers.
As a team, the Mavericks fired a final-round score of 308, their lowest of the tournament, to finish at 942. Cal Poly won the event with a score of 878. Portland State took second at 893, and Southern Utah was third at 906.
Mandy Boyle and Sami Langford tied for second for the Mavericks and tied for 37th overall with scores of 238. For Boyle, it was a career-best 54-hole score while Langford tied her career best.
Samantha Chong finished fourth for UNO and in a tie for 57th overall with a three-round score of 245 that included a final card of 79. Jordan York completed the scoring for the Mavericks with a score of 247. She shot 85 in round three.
The Mavericks will now prepare for the Summit League Championships which will be held on Sunday-Tuesday, April 23-25 at ArborLinks in Nebraska City.
