NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Senior Ben Maskus led the Omaha men’s golf team to 10th place after the first day of play at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate hosted by Lipscomb on Monday.
Maskus shot an one-over-par round of 72 and followed it with a score of 79 over the first 36 holes to sit in a tie for 20th with a total of 151.
As a team, the Mavericks shot rounds of 310 and 309 for a score of 619. Lipscomb leads the 14-team tournament with a score of 574, one stroke clear of Ole Miss in second. Western Kentucky is third at 595.
Kevin Gordon is second for UNO and tied for 41st in the field of 81 golfers with a total of 156 that includes rounds 80 and 76. He’s two strokes ahead of teammate Mitch Ryan who shot 80 and 78 that has him in a tie for 54th with a score of 158.
David Huxham carded rounds of 85 and 76 for a total of 161. That ties him with teammate Kelly Brown who shot 78 and 83. They’re tied for 65th overall.
The final round from the Richland Country Club begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
