JONESBORO, Ark. – The Omaha men’s golf team holds down ninth place after the first two rounds of the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate hosted by Arkansas State.
The Mavericks shot team rounds of 311 and 306 over the first 36 holes for a combined score of 617. Host Arkansas State leads with a total of 589. ASU’s “B” team is second at 590, and Tennessee Martin is third at 592.
Mitch Ryan led the Mavericks in scoring on day one with rounds of 73, one over par, and 76 to sit at 149, good for a tie for 15th in the field of 84 golfers.
Ben Maskus is second on the team and tied for 19th overall with rounds of 79 and even-par 72 to put him at 151 for the tournament.
Kevin Gordon and Max Hellstrom are tied for third for UNO and tied for 62nd overall with matching scores of 159. Gordon carded rounds of 76 and 83 while Hellstrom shot 84 and 75.
David Huxham shot 83 and 87 to round out the scoring for the Mavericks with a total of 170.
Kelly Brown, playing as an individual, shot 79 and 77 for a total of 156 that has him in a tie for 49th overall.
