DES MOINES, Iowa - The Omaha women’s tennis team fell to Drake, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. Omaha is now 2-4 (0-0 Summit League) on the year, while the Bulldogs improve to 4-2.
Drake swept the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead early in the match. The pair of freshmen Rylee Tucker and Emily Behling fell to Alex Kozlowski and Kenya Williams, 7-5 at the No. 2 position, for the closest doubles match of the day.
The Bulldogs took five of the six singles matches to claim the 6-1 victory. Senior Kenzie Hill picked up the lone singles victory for the Mavericks at the No. 5 spot, defeating Kozlowski, 7-5, 6-1. At the No. 1 position junior Michelle Lo suffered her second loss of the season, 6-2, 7-5 to Tess Herder.
“Drake really executed their game plan well and it showed today,” head coach Adam Summitt said. “We battled hard today but just couldn’t come up with timely shots to take the lead. Overall, this was a great weekend for experience, and I hope we can learn from our mistakes.”
Omaha returns to action on Friday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. CT against IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind.
