OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior right-handed pitcher
Tyler Fox has signed a free-agent contract with the Minnesota Twins and will report to the organization's rookie-level affiliate in the Gulf Coast League, the GCL Twins, this week in Fort Myers, Fla.
Fox was named Summit League Pitcher of the Year and picked up first-team All-Summit recognition last month, both for the second time in his career. The Thornton, Colo., native went 10-2 on the mound with a 3.04 ERA and tossed a league-high 100.2 innings over 15 appearances in his senior campaign. In holding opponents to a .267 batting average, he also paced the league for wins, complete games (two) and shutouts (one) and was second for ERA and strikeouts (71).
Fox finished as Omaha's all-time leader for career wins (30), innings pitched (329.1), games started (54) and batters faced (1,379), as well as third for strikeouts (239) and fourth for appearances (55). He compiled a career record of 30-9 with a 2.98 ERA over four seasons.
