OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha hockey coach
Dean Blais announced today that sophomore forward
Avery Peterson has decided to leave the team.
“Avery is leaving the team for personal reasons,” said Blais. “He has finished his classwork for the semester and will leave UNO in good academic standing.”
Peterson, a native of Grand Rapids, Minn., had appeared in 14 games for the Mavericks this season, registering one assist and six penalty minutes. As a freshman, Peterson played in all 39 games and tied for fifth in team scoring with 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points and 18 penalty minutes. He ranked third among UNO's freshmen in points and led all rookies in goals last season.
The Mavericks return to the ice on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 19-20, when they host Arizona State at Baxter Arena.
