Mavericks Finish Season Fourth In Polls

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha hockey team concluded the 2014-15 season with its highest ever ranking in the two national polls.

The Mavericks were ranked fourth in the top-15 poll from USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and in the top-20 poll from USCHO.com.  UNO lost to eventual national champion Providence in their first-ever appearance in the Frozen Four on April 9 in Boston, Mass.

Omaha concluded its season with a record of 20-13-6, its third 20-win season during Dean Blais' six-year tenure as head coach and sixth overall.  The Mavericks also set a school record for fewest losses in a season.  They took third place in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, finishing with a record of 12-8-4-3.

The Mavs were one of five NCHC teams in the top 10 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, joining North Dakota (3), Denver (5), Minnesota Duluth (7) and Miami (8).  They were part of a group of six NCHC teams in the top 10 in the USCHO.com poll along with UND (3), DU (5), UMD (6), Miami (8) and St. Cloud State (10), a sterling showing for the second-year conference.
