Lange Announces Addition of Transfer Alicia Mountain
OMAHA, Neb. – Former Iowa Western guard Alicia Mountain will join the Omaha women's basketball program in 2017-18, head coach Brittany Lange announced Thursday.
Mountain, a 5-7 guard from Elkhorn, Neb., comes to Omaha from IWCC, where she averaged 8.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest as a sophomore. She garnered First Team All-Region for the Reivers last season.
“We are very fortunate to add a true local Maverick to our program,” said Lange. “Alicia is someone that we've had our eye on throughout her high school and junior college career, and we are thrilled things have aligned where she will finally wear the Omaha uniform.”
Mountain played for Elkhorn High School during her prep career. During her senior season, she averaged 13.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game and was named to Class B Second Team All-State.
“Alicia is a tireless worker who is very smart and efficient on the floor,” said Lange. “She does all of the little things and fits the shared style of basketball we value. Alicia will fill whatever role necessary, and we look forward to her additions to the program as a leader and someone of exceptional character. She is playing the best basketball of her career and will only continue to improve during her time here.”
In other Maverick news, Moriah Dapprich and Marissa Preston have graduated this spring and will pursue professional careers outside of athletics, while Alexa Fisher has opted to transfer back home to Ohio Dominican University.
